Automatic Meter Reading service provides an added convenience in the sense that meter readers do not have to enter the customers’ premises to read the meters. This helps us to read meters on schedule and avoid you sending out estimated bills, which would otherwise be issued if meter readers were unable to gain access to the customers’ premises to read the meter.
Remote Meter Reading
The process starts with the measuring the consumption and proceeds to the collection of data from different metering systems, equipped with digital or pulse output logging devices. This is followed by several sub-processes of checking the data accuracy before converting it into a format that meets your needs. The data is finally distributed or warehoused and archived for easy retrieval.
Validation
The data validation process involves checking that the data fits in with the normal load profile for the site and customer in question. A validation check would show that meter readings from a meter that has given no data over a given period, is to be expected due to a shutdown or closure, or it is most likely a fault that need to be investigated. A higher than expected reading might also show a defective metering system — or alternatively a problem with the process being monitored.
Verification
Verification involves the reconciling of data received electronically from loggers with manual readings. It also ensures that readings taken more regularly add up to readings that may only be taken once a year.
Converting
Data is formatted (converted) for different purposes, including: bill checking; energy and environmental management; budget prediction; energy procurement and for settlements purposes.
Warehousing
For data to be easily retrieved, it goes through a complex process of cataloguing and coding before it is stored. Earlier data sets also need to be included in an archive so that a complete sequence of data is available to you.
Distribution
Data can be posted on a bulletin board, delivered by hand in hard copy or on Compact Disk, electronically to your system, either to a single site or several sites. This can also be made available on the Internet.
