Nonmonetary Asset Management is an approach to develop and maintain municipally owned infrastructure assets to ensure that:
- Asset requirements and asset management strategies are driven by defined service levels and performance standards.
- Scarce financial resources are properly allocated and managed to optimise investment in infrastructure.
- A long-term (life-cycle) approach is taken when determining asset operations, maintenance and renewal and the development of appropriate strategies.
- Asset management is a process of logic to guide the planning, acquisition, operation and maintenance, renewal and disposal of assets. Its objective is to maximise asset service delivery potential and manage related risks and costs over the assets' entire lives.
